Are you a creative writer? Do you express words well in writing, which help people to understand and comprehend what has been said? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you have an author’s potential within, which needs to be released. Let us assist you in the birthing of this inner gift that you have, which will help more people than you can imagine. Our purpose is to inspire the writers to write, and help them in their journey from transforming their stories or scripts from paper to publications. Here is some very important information as it relates to writing about a subject. Answer these five questions and let the journey begin!
This question causes you to determine the PURPOSE of the product! You have something to say to the people-- that will help them. Note in some cases it’s good to share some of you but never allow the concentration of your writing to be on you and not your message. Only share “you” when it’s necessary and relevant for the reader to gain understanding.
This question causes you to direct the PERSPECTIVE of the product. The message that you’re relaying through the writing will reveal the insight that you have on the subject and cause the reader to be exposed to that particular view. In your writing you must say something that has not been said before or say if DIFFERENTLY! Due to the writer’s market being so crowded, you have to stand out in order to get noticed and if you have a unique perspective or insight on the message you desire to deliver, then it is better for you and the people that you will reach. In the year 2011 alone, there were close to a million new titles released and although we hear about the “best-sellers” most books sell far fewer copies. It was statistically said that the average book sells less than 250 copies in the first year; 90% of all books published will sell fewer than 100 copies; while 8% will sell fewer than 1,000 copies and 2% will sell 5,000 or more. Be sure that your title, subtitle, cover, etc. compliments your message and you are among the 2%.
This question causes you to see the PLOT of the product! You need a plan. Decide what’s best and ideal to communicate your message. This starts by answering this question—“Is my message best by way of book, magazine, article, eBook, mobile app, small group or all the above?” You must have a plan to follow! Depending on what vehicle you choose, this will determine what kind of graphics you’ll need. If book form, then you will work along-side a graphic designer in developing a cover (paper or hardback) that compliments your work and what size the book will be. The size of the book and the font you choose will determine the amount of pages you’ll have. Always use a clear font (size 11 or 12) that’s easy on the eye like Times New Roman, Palatino Linotype, etc. You’ll also choose paper color and finish (matte, etc.)
This question causes you to determine the PEOPLE for the product! You have to identify your audience and lose the idea that your book is for everybody. Majority of books that have sold well, sold because their target was clear. The writer must define their targeted audience and specifically focus their marketing efforts to reach that audience. You want to go beyond the demographics of age, gender and ethnicity but stay within the realms of your audience being clear because the more specific you are the better it will be.
This question causes you to determine the PENETRATION of the product. Once you answer this question you will know what the central benefit will be to the reader meaning how your message will help them become more effective, focused, successful, healthier, thinner, wealthier, etc. Knowing your message is for you but knowing how your message will help is for your reader. Your writing must clearly communicate your message to the reader and how it will help them.
This question helps you to decide the PROJECTION of the project. There’s two parts to this area. The first is the release to be proof read. This is the first part of editing and it’s vital because your manuscript needs a fresh pair of eyes and ears. After reading your manuscript, the editor will be able to tell you whether you succeeded in communicating your message. They will return it to you and by their comments you will know what to add, take away, expound on and even clear up. Be open for possible correction and remember the editor is there to help you. Please note that although proof reading is a part of editing, it is a separate service and holds a fee of its own. Once your manuscript has been proof read then it’s ready for the next portion of editing, which deals with the grammatical structure. Due to having it proof read, you have what need to be said but now you must make sure you’re saying it grammatically correct. After both phases of editing have been completed then you are now ready to have the manuscript formatted and forwarded to the Library of Congress for copyright. Note that it’s best to wait to copyright after the manuscript has been edited to avoid duplicating this step. After this, you are ready for the second release which is the release to be purchased! This is where publishing comes in.
*Remember that you cannot hold on to the manuscript forever. You must set a release date otherwise it’ll never leave your hands because of your efforts to perfect it. Note that the perfection of your manuscript does not come from what else you can write, but rather how effectively you communicated your message in what you’ve written!
*Please note that bookstores will not consider taking in any publications that have not been professionally edited. By doing this, it guards their reputation and the kind of material their customers get exposed to. DO THINGS DECENTLY AND IN ORDER and don’t discredit your message neither you as an author.
